Gigantic Parade through Donaueschingen

No one could quite remember if there had ever been a bigger parade for the CHI, but everyone agreed: This was the biggest parade at the start of the International S. D. Prince Joachim zu Fürstenberg Memorial Tournament in Donaueschingen in many, many years:

30 groups, 900 participants, 500 of whom were children, and 90 horses - a truly festive parade that wound its way through the streets of the Donauquell city.

A highlight was the 500 small hobby horse riders from schools and kindergartens in the region. 500 cardboard hobby horses, donated by the Straub Packaging Company and designed by the children themselves. A wonderful sight! From the drag hunting club to the aftercare clinic, from the carnival guild to the town militia, from the fanfare band to the town orchestra - everything was on the move in Donaueschingen for the 70th anniversary tournament parade. Donaueschingen cheered, the spectators stood packed close together and rejoiced.

The parade was held under the motto: "70 years of CHI Donaueschingen – Tradition in New Splendor." There was a special honorary prize for the best implementation of this motto, and the winner was honored at the end of the parade in the large jumping stadium. This victory went to the Bossert Riding Facility with their tableau "Time Travel of CHI Donaueschingen." The scoring was done by four jury members in three categories: Creativity, relation to the horse, and entertainment value. The jury included Donaueschingen's mayor Severin Graf, representative of the princely house Kerstin Tritschler, two-time Olympic team dressage champion Dorothee Schneider, and tournament director Matthias Alexander Rath, CEO of the event agency Schafhof Connects. All the scores combined resulted in the victory for the Bossert Riding Facility, ahead of Ponyhof Müller and the Schwenningen Riding and Driving Club.

Donaueschingen – "They also call it Little Aachen"
The best two-horse teams from the dressage competition, the first sub-discipline of the Nations Cup held in the Prize of the Test Engineer Konrad Hall, also participated in the parade. "There hasn't been a Nations Cup for two-horse teams in Donaueschingen for a long time, but we're bringing it back now," rejoiced Uwe Fuchs, who is responsible for driving sports at CHI. On the 40 x 80-meter rectangular arena, the two-horse teams completed their dressage today, Thursday. "The level was very good, the ground conditions are sensational," said the Swiss Daniel Würgler from the judging panel. "I am very happy that the tournament is taking place again. They also call it 'Little Aachen.'"

The first and second places went to France: Franck Grimonprez took first place with his team and 39.99 penalty points, ahead of his teammate Francois Dutilloy with 40.65 penalty points. "Francois is like a brother to me," beamed the winner. "I am so happy that we have less than one point difference and could achieve these results for our team." He also knew that the heavy rain hadn't made it easy, but the ground was "perfect."
The best German team was driven by Sandra Koalick into fourth place (48.46 penalty points). This puts Team France in the lead after the dressage in the Nations Cup standings, ahead of the teams from Switzerland and Germany. On Saturday, the second sub-discipline for the drivers, the cross-country marathon drive, is on the schedule – a Donaueschingen highlight: the water crossing through the Brigach.

Richard Vogel – the Perpetual Winner
Before the parade and the two-horse teams got underway, Richard Vogel once again lived up to his reputation as the perpetual winner and won the Prize of Grundinvest GmbH. Riding the nine-year-old Cornet Obolensky son Crack HV, the Olympic rider completed the 1.45-meter course without any faults and crossed the finish line in 60.76 seconds. The fast Amazon from France, Penelope Leprevost, followed with Barbie de la Roque Z in second place, ahead of Johannes Ehning and C-Jay.

And in the subsequent competition, the PSA Tour Final for four-year-old DSP horses, the winner was once again Richard Vogel. With the Comme Prévu descendant Comme Cavelle, he performed a harmonious, faultless round on the large grass arena and received an unbeatable score of 9.0.
